Travel soccer is a competitive program for players who want to advance their individual soccer skills and compete at higher team levels. It benefits from high volume of training sessions, as well as league and tournament competitions against other teams of the same level locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Playing on a competitive soccer team requires a high level of commitment from players and their families even though no amount of playing time is guaranteed for any player. Playing time is based on performance, attendance, and observations made by the coach during practices and games.
Players are expected to attend all practices and games during the season. The length of the season will vary, depending upon age groups and the level of the team.
Tryouts are required for all travel teams U8-U18. Tryouts details and schedule are posted on the website. Team assignments depend heavily on the tryout results. Tryouts are typically held at the end of the Spring season, months of May and June, in preparation for the following Fall/Spring season. All players will be evaluated by their individual skills, understanding of the game and positions, athletic fitness, effort, attitude, and how well they fit within the team.
The club continuously evaluates players outside of the tryout period. Players/Parents may request an assessment to be considered for a travel team within our club. Coaches will also monitor performance of players within the Cosmo Stars Soccer Club's recreational and travel teams to offer possibilities of advancement to higher-level competitive teams.
As for tryouts, evaluation will consist of individual skills, small-sided to regulation games, understanding of the game, fitness, and effort as well as attitude.
If you are interested to become part of our travel team, please contact us to arrange a time for an assessment or register to practice with our travel teams over the summer or during the regular season, and have the possibility to join our team.
Our club follows traditional youth soccer seasons. Soccer season is divided into Fall and Spring. Our spring season goes from early/mid March through late May/early June, whereas our Fall season goes from early/mid September through late October/early November.
The current dates for the Fall'24-Spring'25 Travel soccer seasonal year are, as follow:
Winter season (Club is closed for two weeks during the holidays): Travel teams will participate in Winter Leagues in 2024/2025. No training sessions/practices will be held over the winter. Specific dates for training sessions/practices will be provided by coach and club director at the end of the Fall season if available and agreed to outside of the travel team's contract if the teams are participating in winter leagues.
Note: tournament and league schedules are typically released by the organizing institutions 2 weeks prior to the first game.
It is highly recommended for travel teams to attend and take advantage of the summer program as part of pre-season training. It is a critical component of launching a successful season. Players benefit from intensive training in the technical, tactical, mental, and physical components of the game. In addition, pre-season training provides an invaluable opportunity for teammates to bond with one another and their coach.
Check our summer programs for additional information regarding soccer camps and clinics/training session available in the summer.
